Frantic Assembly

Frantic Assembly is a modern physical theatre company responsible for many amazing productions in recent years, such as Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime and an adaptation of Othello as well as Things I Know to be True, and are focused mainly on their devising style of theatre, using physicality and movement to portray meaning, mainly about human relationships.

During the workshop, delivered to us by Steve Kirkham, who has been a movement director for different films and for Frantic Assembly, and has worked with choreography as well as having been a dancer for 25 years. During this, we went through some devising blocks, warm up activities and non-negotiables used by this company and developed our understanding of physical theatre and the process of devising. We worked on squeeze duets, home chairs, solos and lifts as the main performative points.
